Ingredients

6 large jalapeño peppers

1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 large eggs, beaten

Cooking spray

Instructions

Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

Cut the jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes carefully using gloves. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the breakfast sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Take each jalapeño half and fill it generously with the sausage mixture, pressing it in to ensure it sticks well.

In a separate bowl, set up a breading station: place the beaten eggs in one bowl and the breadcrumbs in another.

Dip each filled jalapeño in the beaten egg, ensuring it’s completely coated, then roll it in the breadcrumbs to create an even coating.

Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking, then carefully arrange the breaded jalapeño halves in a single layer in the basket without overcrowding.

Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through until the coating is golden and crispy and the sausage is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 71°C).

Once done, remove from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Prep Time: 20 min | Total Time: 35 min | Servings: 12 halves

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve on a platter with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping, garnished with fresh cilantro or parsley for a pop of color.
