Ingredients
  

2 cups water

1 medium apple, cored and sliced

1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)

1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (to taste)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Fresh lemon slices (for serving)

A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions
 

In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.

    Once boiling, add the sliced apple and the cinnamon stick (or ground cinnamon) to the water.

      Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

        Add honey or maple syrup and stir until well combined. If using vanilla extract, add it now.

          Remove from heat and strain the tea into cups, discarding the apple slices and cinnamon stick (if used).

            If desired, sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top for an added aromatic touch.

              Serve hot with a fresh slice of lemon on the side for extra brightness and zest.
