Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

8 small sesame seed burger buns

4 slices cheddar cheese, cut in half

1/4 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1/4 cup pickles, diced

1/2 cup shredded lettuce

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1 tablespoon finely chopped onions

Special sauce (mix 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons ketchup, and 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish)

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, avoiding overmixing.

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into small patties. Ensure they are slightly larger than the burger buns since they will shrink while cooking.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the mini patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, adding the cheddar cheese on top during the last minute to melt.

While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the sesame seed buns on the grill or in a toaster oven until golden brown.

Prepare the special sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickle relish in a small bowl.

Assemble the mini cheeseburgers: spread a layer of special sauce on the bottom half of each bun, add a cheeseburger patty, a dollop of ketchup and mustard, some diced pickles, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and chopped onion.

Cap with the top half of the bun, press down gently, and repeat for the remaining burgers.

For a fun presentation, skewer each mini burger with a toothpick to hold it together and serve on a platter lined with lettuce leaves for decoration.
