Ingredients

4 slices of thick brioche bread

2 large eggs

1 cup milk (or almond milk)

1/4 cup blood orange juice

Zest of 1 blood orange

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Pinch of salt

2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Optional toppings: sliced blood oranges, maple syrup, or yogurt

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, blood orange juice, blood orange zest, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar (if using), and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.

Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well soaked but not dripping.

Once excess liquid is removed, place the soaked slices onto the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and slightly crispy. Add more butter to the pan if needed.

Once all slices are cooked, transfer to a plate and dust with powdered sugar.

Serve warm topped with fresh sliced blood oranges and a drizzle of maple syrup or a dollop of yogurt if desired.

              Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 2

                - Presentation Tips: Arrange the French toast on a large plate, stacking them slightly. Garnish with blood orange slices and a sprig of mint for a vibrant touch. Optionally, serve with a small bowl of yogurt or syrup on the side for dipping.
