Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground turkey

1 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper (red or green)

2 cloves garlic, minced

3/4 cup milk

1 large egg

3 tablespoons ketchup, plus extra for topping

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and turkey.

Add the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, milk, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, basil, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture. Mix gently until everything is well incorporated.

If you’re using cheese, fold it into the mixture at this point.

Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf. Make sure it’s evenly packed and smooth on top.

Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf for a nice glaze during cooking.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) and the juices run clear.

Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Serve warm with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes and green beans.
