Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices American cheese

4 hero rolls or sub sandwich buns

4 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 tablespoon mustard

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 ripe tomato, sliced

Hot sauce (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and diced bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

Cook the Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spatula.

Season the Mixture: Once the beef is cooked through, stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well, allowing the flavors to combine for about 2 minutes.

Melt the Cheese: Place the slices of American cheese on top of the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for an additional 2 minutes, or until the cheese has melted beautifully.

Prepare the Rolls: While the cheese is melting, slice the hero rolls or sub buns open (not all the way through) and spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise and mustard inside each bun.

Assemble the Sandwich: Once the cheese has melted, use a spatula to scoop generous amounts of the beef and cheese mixture into each prepared roll.

Top It Off: Add a handful of shredded lettuce and tomato slices to each sandwich. If desired, drizzle some hot sauce on top for a spicy kick.

Serve: Close the sandwiches and serve them hot alongside your favorite chips or a side salad.

                  Prep Time: 10 mins | Total Time: 20 mins | Servings: 4

                    - Presentation Tips: Cut the sandwiches in half to showcase the cheesy filling and stack them on a wooden platter. Garnish with extra lettuce or sliced pickles for added color!
