Ingredients

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

Optional: Chocolate chips (for extra richness)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.

Stir in the boiling water gradually. The batter will be thin, but that's perfect for a moist cake!

If desired, fold in herbed or flavored chocolate chips for an extra layer of decadence.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once done, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

                  Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12

                    - Presentation Tips: Once cooled, frost the cakes with your favorite chocolate frosting and stack them. For a decorative touch, sprinkle chocolate shavings on top or place fresh berries around the base. Serve slices on elegant dessert plates and enjoy!
