Ingredients

1 medium green cabbage, chopped

1 pound ground beef

1 large onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup beef broth

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup cooked rice (optional for heartiness)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to wilt.

Pour in the beef broth and if using, mix in the cooked rice. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few more minutes, letting the flavors meld together.

Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let sit for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
