1 lb ground beef

1 lb ground pork

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup carrots, diced

1 cup frozen peas

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and diced

1/2 cup milk

4 tablespoons butter

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Cook the Ground Meat: In a large skillet, over medium heat, add both ground beef and ground pork. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

    Add Vegetables: Stir in the onion, garlic, and carrots. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the frozen peas, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper, mixing everything well. Remove from heat and set aside.

      Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: While the meat is cooking, boil the diced potatoes in a large pot of salted water for about 15-20 minutes, or until tender. Drain and return to the pot.

        Mash the Potatoes: Add milk and butter to the cooked potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

          Combine and Layer: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish, spread the meat and vegetable mixture evenly across the bottom. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top, spreading them into an even layer.

            Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.

              Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

                Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
