Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast, sliced into strips

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Vegetable oil, for frying

Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: Start by placing the chicken strips in a bowl and pouring the buttermilk over them. Make sure all the chicken is coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).

Prepare the Breading Station: In one bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, place the breadcrumbs.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and allow excess to drip off. Dredge each piece first in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess. Then, dip it back into the buttermilk and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure they stick.

Heat the Oil: In a large pan, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom and heat over medium-high heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a small piece of breadcrumb in—if it sizzles, it’s ready.

Fry the Chicken: Carefully add the chicken tenders to the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).

Drain and Serve: Once cooked, remove the tenders and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Enjoy: Serve the crispy chicken tenders hot with your favorite dipping sauce (like honey mustard or ranch).
