Ingredients

3 lb beef chuck roast

1 cup beef broth

1 (12 oz) jar banana peppers (including the juice)

1 packet Italian dressing mix

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)

6 hoagie rolls

6 slices provolone cheese

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Begin by placing the beef chuck roast in the crockpot.

In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, banana pepper juice, Italian dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Pour the mixture over the beef in the crockpot, ensuring it’s well-coated with the seasoning blend.

Add the jar of banana peppers directly into the crockpot on top of the meat.

Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shredded.

Once cooked, remove the beef from the crockpot and shred it using two forks.

Return the shredded beef to the crockpot to soak in the juices for an additional 30 minutes on low.

Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise and place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom half.

Using a slotted spoon, pile the shredded beef and banana peppers on top of the cheese.

Optionally, broil the sandwiches in the oven for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese and toast the rolls.

Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
