Making a great shrimp gratin starts with choosing the right shrimp. I recommend using large shrimp. They hold their shape well and cook evenly. Fresh shrimp is best, but frozen shrimp works too. Just make sure to thaw them before cooking.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until they turn pink, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a bowl, combine the heavy cream and half of the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until fully combined.

In a baking dish, spread the shrimp mixture evenly on the bottom. Pour the cream and cheese mixture over the shrimp.

In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the remaining Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Sprinkle this mixture evenly on top of the shrimp and cream layer.

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
