Ingredients

8 oz elbow macaroni

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup milk

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup breadcrumbs

2 tablespoons parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, stir in the flour to form a roux and cook for about 1 minute until lightly golden.

Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the sauce, mixing well.

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth.

Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until well coated.

Pour the macaroni and cheese mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with a drizzle of olive oil or melted butter, then sprinkle this over the macaroni mixture for a crunchy topping.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and the top is golden brown.

                      Prep Time: 15 min | Total Time: 45 min | Servings: 4-6

                        - Presentation Tips: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot, possibly alongside a fresh garden salad for a complete meal. Enjoy your cheesy delight!
