Ingredients

1.5 lbs ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup French onion soup (canned or homemade)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, until softened and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onions, French onion soup, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, pepper, and salt. Mix until everything is well combined.

Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a lightly greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to an hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

After 45 minutes, carefully remove the meatloaf from the oven and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once cooked, let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing to ensure it holds its shape.
