2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon active dry yeast

3/4 cup warm water (110°F)

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions
 

In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until it forms a rough dough.

      Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

        Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

          Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 6 inches long, and then tie it into a knot. Place the knots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

            In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Brush this mixture generously over each garlic knot.

              Bake the garlic knots in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.

                Remove the knots from the oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese while they are still warm.

                  Serve the garlic knots warm, drizzled with any remaining garlic butter and a sprinkle of extra parsley.
