Ingredients

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sliced pepperoni

½ cup ricotta cheese

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12x16 inches).

In a bowl, mix the shredded mozzarella, sliced pepperoni, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder until well combined.

Spread the cheese and pepperoni mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a log to encase the filling, tucking as you go to form a tight roll.

Pinch the seams to seal, and then roll the Stromboli onto the seam side to ensure it stays closed. Place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Beat the egg with a splash of water and brush the mixture all over the surface of the Stromboli for a beautiful golden finish.

Using a sharp knife, make 3-4 diagonal slashes on top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape during baking.

Drizzle the top with olive oil for added flavor and crunch.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

Once done, allow the Stromboli to cool for 5 minutes before slicing it into thick pieces.

Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping and garnish with fresh basil leaves for a touch of color and flavor.
