Ingredients

12 ounces pappardelle pasta

1 pound ground beef

1 pound ground pork

1 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

3 cups marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pappardelle according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.

Prepare the Meatball Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, minced garlic, egg, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.

Form the Meatballs: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Using your hands, form the meat mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs (about 1.5 inches in diameter).

Bake the Meatballs: Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle a little olive oil over them (optional) and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and golden.

Heat the Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large skillet over medium heat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen it.

Combine Pasta and Meatballs: Once the meatballs are done, gently add them to the heated marinara sauce, ensuring they are well coated. Then add the cooked pappardelle and toss everything together, allowing the flavors to meld for about 2-3 minutes.

Serve: Plate the pasta and meatballs in bowls. Drizzle with a little olive oil and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
