Ingredients

8 oz shell pasta

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (red or yellow)

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes

1 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the shell pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté Vegetables: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.

Combine Ingredients: Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juice), beef broth, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Add Pasta: Gently fold in the cooked shell pasta, making sure to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb the flavors.

Cheesy Topping: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the pasta mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook on low for 3-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Season & Serve: Taste the dish and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
