The best steak sandwich starts with good meat. I recommend flank steak. It has great flavor and tender texture. When cooked right, it melts in your mouth. Slice it thin against the grain. This makes each bite easier to chew.

Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

4 ciabatta rolls (or your preferred bread)

1 cup arugula

1 ripe tomato, sliced

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

Garlic Aioli Ingredients:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Garlic Aioli: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until well combined. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Cook the Steak: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the sliced flank steak with salt and pepper. Add the steak to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your liking. Remove from heat and set aside.

Toast the Rolls: While the steak is cooking, slice the ciabatta rolls in half and toast them in the same skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assemble the Sandwich: Spread a generous layer of garlic aioli on both halves of each toasted ciabatta roll. On the bottom half, layer the arugula, cooked steak slices, tomato slices, and red onion.

Finish and Serve: Place the top half of the ciabatta roll over the fillings, pressing down gently. Cut the sandwich in half diagonally for easier handling.
