Ingredients

1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

2 tablespoons sesame oil

1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

2 tablespoons water

Optional: chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Whisk together until well combined.

Add honey (or maple syrup) and rice vinegar to the mixture. Stir until the honey is fully dissolved.

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth, then add this slurry to the sauce mixture. This will help thicken the sauce during cooking.

Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes and stir to combine. If you prefer a spicier sauce, add more red pepper flakes according to your taste.

Taste the sauce, and adjust sweetness or saltiness if needed by adding more honey or soy sauce.

Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or use immediately in your favorite stir fry dish.
